Heart Chakra (Anahata)

Heart chakra (Anahata)

As the chakras rise up the spine, the impulses they inspire are of beauty, creativity, healing, compassion. This is the chakra that lets you "have a heart," be "warm-hearted" and "whole-hearted." Physically, it energizes not only the blood-pumping organ but the upper torso organs such as lungs. Whatever your religious learning, there is a deity of beauty or compassion to guide you: Chinese Buddhist Kuan Yin, Tibetan Buddhist Tara, the Christian Virgin Mary, the Yoruba Oshun. To help you connect, look for a green-stone mala such as jade, or a heartwood such as warm rosewood or fragrant sandalwood.
